Using an emitter iBeacon to perform indoor localization -
after searching on internet, found ibeacon (ble) systems use smartphone receiver estimate proximity beacon.
however, question if reverse infrastructure. meaning that, person wears bluetooth beacon (that emits/advertises), , within room there several bluetooth receivers (not smartphones) receive packets emitter beacon, , algorithm estimates position of beacon inside room. these bluetooth receivers can installed on walls of room (one per wall) , communicate received signal strength (rssi) server estimates position of emitting beacon.
has tried approach? or existing system it?
while not common of use case using mobile smartphones detect fixed beacons, possible have mobile beacons fixed beacon scanners.
the typical approach place small scanner computers @ points of interest , report beacon signal measurements server, can estimate position of mobile beacon depending on scanner closest.
while have worked on couple of custom systems use technique, much, more complicated , fragile more common approach of fixed beacons mobile smartphones. unaware of off-the-shelf or open source systems this.
